Suffolk Hares

Gallery expires on December 18, 2020

I was brought up in the West Country where hares are few and far between and so it was only when I moved to Suffolk to follow a new career that I really became interested them.

However, the opportunity to spend anything other than an hour or two photographing them, only came along when I was forced to take some time off work in the lockdown of 2020. I had just bought my first hide and wanting to put my time to good use, I decided to embark on a project to photograph the hares in the fields around my home.

There is something special about spending the first hour or two of the day sitting in my hide studying our local population of hares.

We are lucky enough to have a thriving population and whilst the best images have come from my time sat in my hide or stalking in the field, the patio outside my office seems to have become a bit of a hare motorway and often an individual lollops past looking slightly lost.

This is a collection of my favourite images and I hope to show the character and mystique that make hares such enchanting animals.
